Popular Article

A popular article is something you could find in a newspaper or magazine. It uses easy-to-understand wording, often has photographs included, does not always have an author listed, and is not usually too long.  

Scholarly Article

A scholarly article is something you would find in an academic journal. There is always an author listed (or more) and these articles tend to be peer-reviewed, which means it has been approved by fellow scholars before being published. Scholarly articles tend to be longer, use specific vocabulary to the field. They will always have references throughout and at the end of the article. 

Professional Research articles are considered scholarly articles as well. These articles explain a professional research study that was conducted. The articles will have a methods, data, summary, conclusions, and other specific sections that walks the reader through the research study.
